This year in Get Fit, I think my participation has been great. I only missed class once when I was sick and I always had my gym strip. In this class, I feel like it is easier to really participate in games such as volleyball, capture the flag, kickball, etc. The way we sometimes are able to bend the rules to make a game more fun is one of the best part of the class. I also think I improved in games like volleyball. I've always wanted to really play volleyball but never had the chance outside of school and such, but in this class, we tend to play volleyball a lot and it's really fun playing with the girls! Now I'm not afraid to jump in to get the ball. I feel like this year compared to last year's Get Fit class, had fewer fitness days...but those fitness days we had were hot, tough, but satisfying afterwards. Activities such as the hill run really got me breathing hard and I had forgotten how hard it was. But knowing I made it up the hill every time without a rest last year reassured/pushed me to do the same this time.
I think my social responsibility and contribution to the class was pretty good. I encouraged others and gave words of encouragement during fitness and cheered my teammates on when playing games while respecting the team we were playing against too. I'm honest about my fitness scores (why lie?) and I try and make sure things are fair by mixing up the teams when playing games like volleyball.
We only did the beep test once this semester so I can't compare my improvements, but compared to last year, it was a tiny bit better. Healthy living is really important, and especially for next year when I'm not taking Get Fit. I'm sure I'll be overwhelmed by all the grad stuff (omg I'm graduating next year :O) but I'll make sure to stay active, and live healthy. I have some things going right now that's already a part of my daily routine such as crunches. I always to 100 crunches/abs exercise at least 3 times a week and on Saturday mornings, I do yoga and hula hoop for 20 minutes (I could hula hoop forever while listening to music/watching dramas). This year, I've also been on little evening runs three times since the day has been getting longer.
I think my blog posts have been thoughtful and they reflect how I actually feel. Sometimes when I'm blogging, I scroll through my old posts and read them. It's funny reading my old posts because I'll remember exactly how I was feeling while doing that activity I wrote about, or how I was feeling when I was writing that. Because this is my last year of Get Fit, I tried to do a good job on my posts so they could be inspirational/motivational for me in the future, when I'm in grade 12 or university. My goals for the future is to simply just keep active and also eating healthy. Of course I have those lazy days where I don't want to do anything, but overall, I have a good ability of getting up and actually putting on my running shoes. So I've already started. I just need to keep going now.
Get Fit has taught me so much about fitness, diet, appearance and the way I saw "healthy". It's not hard to stay healthy because it's not about not eating chocolate or chips. "Healthy" is being able to balance your lifestyle. I'm definitely a sweets kind of person, but I don't have them everyday...just occasionally. My mom is also an inspiration to me because she's a sweets person too, but she's able to maintain a healthy lifestyle by walking and stretching everyday. She also doesn't use regular oil when cooking. She's changed everything to coconut oil. Apparently it's a good fat and takes away......the bad things in your body...? So now we don't even have butter in the house. We just use coconut oil. Lately my mom has also been talking about changing our sugar (not that we use it very much...) to coconut sugar...
I don't know how my final assessment ended with coconut sugar, but in this course, I think the mark I deserve is an A - 90%.
Thank you for being an awesome P.E teacher Ms. Phillips! From grade 9 to 11, you've made P.E fun for me! :)
